Janai is a first-year student pursuing a B.S.P.H in Community Health and a minor in Spanish at Indiana University Bloomington. She aspires to utilize her education and experience at IU Bloomington as the foundation of a career in healthcare. Janai is interested in researching (1) the maternity mortality rates of minority women and improving maternal health, and (2) the potential association between socioeconomic status, race, gender, and quality of life. 

Currently, Janai serves as the secretary of the both the Freshman Action Team of the Black Student Union and the Black Student Union, and is a member of the Essence Dance Team at Indiana University Bloomington.
